This staircase was built for clients in Wallingford, Oxfordshire who live in a beautiful ancient timber-framed maltings building. We worked on this project alongside AF Jones, Stonemasons in Ipsden, Oxford.
The brief for this project was for a contemporary staircase that complimented the ancient timber framed building. It was important that the stairs did not have any support posts which would have interrupted the space below, so we worked in conjunction with a structural engineer to resolve the hidden structures set deep into the walls. These lovely stairs have cast iron treads, with lead cast ball detailing on the balustrade set into a decorative cut stringer.
