Chapmanslade Stables

This unusual staircase project was an old Victorian Stable block with original stable stalls still in place. The owners wanted to emulate the ironwork of the stalls within a new staircase. We reclaimed and incorporated two of the original cast iron stall posts complete with the foundry’s makers mark and where necessary we replicated them with cast finials and new columns. We also replicated the cast iron handrail and the collar detailing on the original plinth. The stairs were completed with lovely timber treads to echo the new timber floors and the timber panelling details from the original horse stalls.
